How are the winners selected?
Each month, we’ll take the top 10 story submissions that generated the most traffic. Those 10 stories will be voted on by HackerNoon staff and the 3 stories with the most votes will win.
Can I win more than one prize?
Yes! If you submit multiple stories, each has the chance to win.
Nominees are selected by total traffic each month and then voted on by our team. If 2 of your submitted stories that month are in the top 10 most-read that month, both of them are eligible to win a prize.
Meaning you could potentially bag both first and second place in the contest if 2 of your stories make it to the top 10.
If I win a prize in round 1, can I still submit another entry into round 2?
Absolutely!
You can contest in all of these rounds!
Message from the Sponsor
The most compelling idea of the Octopus Network is to be able to realize the dream of the Web 3 revolution sooner with our project.
To jump-start your imagination, we would like to make a few points. (You do not have to include any of the following information in your writing submissions.)
The term Web3 has recently taken off as a type of jargon in the blockchain space, but it has very deep philosophical tenets.
- The term Web3 was coined by
Dr. Gavin Wood in 2014, in his blog entitledĐApps: What Web 3.0 Looks Like . About a week later, he publishedLess-techy: What is Web 3.0? . And later in 2018, he expanded on the critical necessity of Web3 to be realized inWhy We Need Web3 . - Even though Web3.0 refers to cutting-edge technology, its roots stretch back to philosophies that support freedom, autonomy, sovereignty, privacy, and open society, before the Internet even existed.
- Cypherpunks were a group of active IT geeks in the early 90’s who believed that the Internet would soon become a critical frontline in the fight for human freedom. They believed cryptography could be key in defending personal privacy, autonomy, and internet freedom. It was the Cypherpunk movement that led to the birth of Bitcoin, which is clearly the forefather of Web3.
We hope the above information will inspire your imagination, but more importantly, we can’t wait to read your Web3 visions.
Good Luck Hackers!
Enter the contest today! Waiting for some kick-ass Web3 stories from y’all!
