And the Winners Are 👀
To make sure that we are free of hackers (bot alert! 🤖), editors voted for the winning stories. Here are the winners:
The top-voted story this month is Moderation in the Metauniverse is the Most Disgusting Job in the World by @strateh76
How moderation will work when millions of people congregate in metauniverses is unknown. AltspaceVR has full-time moderators but leaves most of the work to users. Meta also allows "avatars" to block offenders on their own. But in the future, users are unlikely to have enough time and energy to control the behavior of countless people.
The way out is automation. For now, however, algorithms can't even handle toxicity on text-based social networks. It is unclear how they will work in a metauniverse, where every action can be interpreted differently.
Congratulations, @strateh76! You’ve won $1,750 and a MegaFans NFT!
In the second place, is again a story by @strateh76: How Roblox Exploits Young Developers
It turns out that almost all of the revenue from the games goes to the established developers that Roblox Corporation talks about in the ads. The platform supports these creators with constant bonuses. For example, for the time that gamers spend in their games. Young developers, meanwhile, can make as interesting a game as they want, but no one will see it without paid promotion.
However, children do not see such explanations in Roblox ads and continue to create free content for the platform with little chance of finding its audience. In addition, an exciting idea can be intercepted by more experienced developers, and its author will not receive any compensation.
Congratulations, @strateh76! You’ve won $1,250 and another MegaFans NFT!
In third place, we have, How I Let an AI Code a Game For Me! by @lukaszwronski
Recently I've found that Github Copilot, an AI that helping to write the code by suggesting whole snippets (often based just on natural language comments), is now available as a commercial service. No longer needing to wait for beta access, I've checked myself in for a two-month free trial.
I have to say - my expectations were high. I've played a bit with OpenAI API before. I believe it uses the same model as Copilot, so I knew it could be a mind-blowing experience. I've installed it as a Visual Studio Code extension and started to wonder how should I challenge my new virtual colleague.
Yay @lukaszwronski! Look at those reading numbers! You’ve won $1000.
What Everyone Is Missing About Axie Infinity’s Economic Storm by @michaelbenko has won the fourth place
I don’t want to get too much into boring technicals, but one important thing to point out is for most of Axie, almost any player with three Axies, even not great ones, could basically collect 75 free SLP per day, which the developers took away recently. With this new adjustment, it’s about 75% harder to mint SLP, and from a community participant, I suspect this will actually balance the mint to burn ratio a lot on its own, although it was very painful for the community at the same time.
That’s quite an informative story, @michaelbenko! Congratulations on winning $800!
Finally, our 5th winner is Check Out the Top Jobs of the Metaverse! by @dankhomenko
The metaverse is rapidly growing in popularity as new features are being added, more users are being attracted, and more projects are appearing. This means not only the increase in the popularity and reach of metaverses but also the creation of new jobs.
Congratulations, @dankhomenko! You have won $500!
On that note - let’s wrap up! Thanks to everyone who has participated! A huge shoutout to our sponsor, MegaFans, and the HackerNoon community for making the Future of Gaming Contest a huge success! Is this the end to this glorious contest? You never know. 😉
