- Your submission should fulfill our editorial guidelines.
Can I write under a pen name?
Yes! You can use your real name on your HN profile or even create a persona to write under.
How long will the contest run?
- Round 1:Ā November 1st - November 30th, 2023
- Winner Announcement:Ā December 2023
Can I submit more than one entry to the contest?
Of course you can! Each story submission shall be considered a new entry into the writing contest.
Is there a word limit for the submissions?
Our minimum requirement is 500 words. Thereās no upper limit. You can use as many words to share your story.
Can you use AI to write a story?
No. That would be cheating. Only original content written by humans will be considered qualified submissions.
How are the winners selected?

Weāll take the top 10 story submissions, factoring in originality, relevance, reads, and reading time.

Those ten stories will be voted on by HackerNoon staff, and the top story with the most votes will win.
